1,2,3,4,5

I'm on tour in early May with a songwriters collaborative project called Burnsong. For me it began in December 2006 with a week long residential retreat for 8 writers including the splendid Future Pilot AKA (with whom I wrote March download "Maid of the Loch"), master of the lyrical riff King Creosote, indie queen Emma Pollock, the politically charged dubstep artist MC Soom T, Edinburgh's finest Kim Edgar, Squeeze lyricist Chris Difford and the delightful Rand Newman-esque Dancing Canadian Michael Johnston. I found the songwriting week overwhelming to be honest but I'm absolutely LOVING the tour. I feel like I'm in the coolest band in the world! Like a Scottish Arcade Fire (but with less crazy outfits). Anyway I wrote "1,2,3,4,5" with Kim, as an exercise in writing a song in 15 minutes.
Now perhaps it sounds like that ... and certainly it ain't the weightiest song in the world. But love it or hate it (and feedback from shows suggests both in equal measure) sometimes you need to give the back a rest!
