Grace/Hewat/Polwart
I’ve been doing some trio work on the side with my pals singer/piper Annie Grace and singer/harper Corrina Hewat. Over the past few years, the three of us have had some fun mucking around with vocal harmony arrangements of Scottish traditional songs for larger collaborative projects we’ve been involved in (Scots Women, Scottish Women and The Unusual Suspects). So we thought why not do a wee bit more and try for a trio show or two? If we come your way you can expect vibrant a capella Scots dance songs sets, spine-tingling and delicate harmonies, Breton diddling and disconcerting lullabies. Find out more about Annie and Corrina.

Teaching
For several years I taught weekly community singing groups at The Scots Music Group in Edinburgh and The Tolbooth in Stirling and I still enjoy doing the odd vocal harmony workshop when I can for projects such as Folkworks, Angus Folk and festivals across the UK (including three hugely popular workshops at Cambridge Folk Festival). I’ve also taught children’s and youth music projects and was for a time Project Manager of Edinburgh’s Youth Gaitherin. In addition to community-based work, I’ve been asked to tutor occasionally on the Scottish Music course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and on the folk degree course at Newcastle University. I enjoy teaching and, since I came to music as an adult as a participant in a community music project (The Scots Music Group in Edinburgh) it’s a skill and a connection I don’t want to lose.
